Default Trunk release (C6, stick)

Trunk releases with button on dash and with button on remote but the one on the underside above plate won't do it. Used to work before I removed the car battery but maybe that's coincidence. Looked in manual and can't see that it can be programmed in/out.

Many of us have intermittant problems with that switch. It isn't sealed, so it is prone to water and dirt incursions. Sometimes it'll start working again if you push it several times. Sometimes you have to pull it out and clean the contacts before it will work again.

Thanks - that makes sense.
Will it remove from the outside using some king of probe? Fingernails?

i had mine replaced when it stopped working for the first time. i have since given up on it. now, i just use the fob to pop the hatch when i'm outside the car. kinda sucks but i got tired of trying to fix it. if someone could come up with a real fix i'd be glad to give it another shot.

looks like it worked. thanks.

in summary,
i removed the inner right taillight (torx #10).
unplugged the switch (performed blind, since my head didn't fit in the taillight hole).
felt the two squeeze clips in the button, squeezed the clips and pushed the button down through the hole.
removed the rubber top, sand spilled out.
cleaned the button top.
removed the button from the slid (knocked it on the table until it slid out far enough i could get ahold of it.).
cleaned the inside, used throtle body cleaner.
reassembled, reinstalled, and wha-lah... it works.

Don't forget - you need to have the fob with you in order to use the switch above the license plate.

Thank you for that!
Disassembled the switch and found that the button was not sliding freely in the guides. Gentle scraping with Stanley blade and all's now fine.
