I have never tried the way that Cowboy1963 posted but you hold down the bottom of the button (as if turning on acc mode) for about 5 seconds. This will put the car in ignition on mode without engaging the starter. Make sure that you hold it long enough, you should see the check engine light come on since the engine is not running.

I've seen "10 seconds" posted here in the past but I'm sure mine takes less than 10 seconds. I think mine only takes about 5 seconds or so. I just did it a few hours ago and it definitely did not seem like 10 seconds. Maybe I'll time it next time Get out the digital stop watches... we can see who's is the fastest
No I don't have a Tech II but have had good results with doing a bleed sequence with ignition on (ABS activated / cycled) and then a bleed sequence with the ignition off on C5.
