Default Question concerning shifting an automatic transmission manually.

Does it hurt an automatic transmission, were one to manually shift thru the gears, from 0 to whatever, while daily driving or racing.
I've been told yes and no by people outside of this forum, but value the opinions on this forum above theirs.

Sorry, if this has been addressed before, but I couldn't find an answer by searching prior to my posting.

Thanks.

In a word, no. If you shift at too low RPMs, the tranny will wait until RPMS increase before shifting. If you shift at too high RPMs, you will bump into the rev limiter.

Why not trade it for a manual 6-speed?
