The vette is my first high horsepower car, and yesterday, I attempted to launch it from a stop but failed miserably. I turned off traction control and launched from idle. All I managed to accomplish was swinging the rear side to side and slowly moving forward. The tires never hooked up and I decided to stop because I was afraid I might lose control from all the swaying. Anyone have any pointers for a straight-line n00b? I'm assuming at the actual drag strip, the track would allow the tires to hook up a tad easier?
I have traction issues as well, just like everyone else who owns a C-6. Getting better tread will help. The stock run-flats will never hook up for you due to the nature of their construction. I just added Pilot Sport IIs with larger rims and it has made a world of difference. Even now, I get off the line best with my RPMs very low. Otherwise, I just burn rubber needlessly. Only way to get a really good hole-shot at higher RPMs with a new Vette is with drag radials. I have 335x30x20 rears with 12.5" x 20" rims; 265x35x19 fronts with 9" x 19" rims. My current setup is far superior to stock, but I still can't get the kind of launch I would like to have.
My auto does not spin bad on the street with TC off. Just a little then it takes off nice. At the track no spin at all. Maybe someone forgot to program TM into his computer.
