I'm headed to the track on Sunday with my C6 M6 with no Slicks
Which driving mode should I use? competition driving mode, traction off only or all off.
I have BF Good. Comps on the Chrome wheels i put on the car when I got it. (took off the factory silver rims and runflats)
Since I have these street tires, I shouldn't do the burn off, right?
all off.
drive around the water if possible
no burnouts needed for street tires
do a peel out up to the line if you are forced to drive thru the water.
shift as close to redline as possible
LIFT on the throttle if you feel any wheelhop. Or snap-crackle-pop will happen to the rearend.
Thanks
I've been once before and the first run i ran in comp. mode, got the wheel hop in second and when i shifted to third, the car slide sideways. The track is pretty slick. So I just ran it in the normal everything on mode the rest of the night.

however, if you're not familiar with the track i'd recommend a couple of runs with everything on, then as you learn how your car is responding to the track try comp. mode. then once you've got a real good feel for the track you can think about all off. just be warned, she is a whole new animal when she's in all-off mode.
This will allow you all the wheelspin you need, but if you are going down the track you will have the benefit of AH to help save your butt if you hit oil or fluids.
I ran my 2006 C6 manual with just TC off and it did well with a 12.55@115.85.
I ran my 2005 C6 Vert A4/3.15 with everything OFF to a 12.57@110.67, but with an automatic you basically point it straight.
If I had to run the auto again I would just do TC off and leave AH ON.

I am new to this, but if you are spinning wheels, buring rubber, does this not hurt your track time? I asked something like this in an earlier post. I have headers on my 2006 A6, and if I floor it in competition mode, I can burn a lot of rubber. Problem, would this not be a negative in 1/4 mile run times?
Thanks Howard for the input. I let you know monday how it went. Just installed kooks headers and high flows and hoping to get the vararam in today. Was hoping to have it tuned before going to the track, but will have to wait til next time.
