I have a 1997 M6 with a aftermarket shifter **** on it . I need to remove it i don,t see what holds it on? I see no set screws? Won,t screw out? What else would hold it? Is there some special way to remove it? Thanks Bob Bichell
GTO,
Do you have a cap on the top of the shifter? if so, I think there is a bolt under the cap that has to be removed. Not sure on this...
If nothing else see if you can find some installation instruction on the web for installing a B&M shifter in your car. The instruction may show how to remove the ****. Good luck

You're in the C6 forum...
BUT to remove it you take the plastic cap off the top, under that you have a metal pin you need to remove with vise grips, it is JAMMED in so you have to use some force, then it just screws off.
If it's an aftermarket ****, not the original factory one, and there is no obvious method of attachment, it probably has a collar at the bottom of the **** that hides the attaching set screws. See if the **** has a bottom piece that will unscrew. You may have to apply a bit of force to it. If that doesn't solve your problem, try to post a picture of your **** or post a url where an example of your **** can be viewed. Someone here will know how to remove it.
