Default Paddle Shift on the 2007

Took delivery today of my 2007. to me. .
Returned my 2005, at the time of ordering my 2007 as most of you know, you have to order the paddle shift option if you want an automatic. ($1250) Does anyone use it ?
Most of my cars have been 6-speed manual, tried using the paddle shift driving home but to me it is weird.

I always drive my A6 with the paddles, I never use D or S mode. With the stock exhaust it is a little boring because you can't even really hear the car shift threw the gear with the paddles. I have B&B Bullets now which make it alot funner to use the paddles.

I rarely use the paddles but I do like them a lot, just saving them for when I get really bored I guess. But then again driving this car in ANY 'mode' could never actually be boring to me LOL.

My C6 is a 6 speed manual, however my Porsche Cayman S (no flames) has the tiptronic transmission which can be placed in a true clutchless manual mode and gear changing is only by paddles in that mode. I use that mode much of the time and enjoy it. You grt thre control of a manual without the clutch and with my lower back getting worse the clutching action does not help the problem. I would hope the next evolution of the Corvette will includes adopts the Porsche concept.

I would also say I don't use my paddles much. The only exception is passing and when the roads start to get interesting. I have attempted to use them at the strip as I do think it would provide the fastest times if you can get the shifts correct.

Really wanted a manual but compromised with the wife and got the auto. I use the paddles every time I drive.

I found the paddles to be most useful in the automatic around the Washington Beltway during Rush-Hour traffic

I spent a LOT less time on the brakes, as I could use the downshifts instead

Aside from that, it was a neat novelty - most of the time, the car was just as enjoyable by not shifting the gears - GM has done a nice job with this transmission (compared to other Corvette Automatics).

They can be fun on the backroads but I don't use them much otherwise and if running the 1/4 would stay away from them and use S.The overall experience with the A6 is VERY pleasant for an automatic but it is not going to please someone who really wanted a manual.

Just in case anyone missed it, 'knkali' won't use the paddles unless feeling a bit frisky.

I use the paddles once in awhile. I always use the "S" mode, never "D", in case I want to use the paddles at any time.

Default Nope

I never use the paddle shift option on my Vette. I think they feel wierd as well. I have bullets on my Vette. It sounds wierd to me when I use the paddles. However, I think if I took the time to get used to them I would use them more. I just haven't played with them enough. I think if I drove more agressivly I would use them more.

I also have B&B Bullets, they sound really nice when you use the paddles and bring your rpm's up really high before shifting. When you downshift with the paddles the Bullets make a nice gurgle and poping sound. You should try it.

Default Good for the twisties

In live in a mountainous area and enjoy the paddles when driving thru the curves. Otherwise, the shifter stays in "D" to make traffic easier to deal with. Still, if you are going 50mph and need to jump on it, the beast awakens with ferocity.
