I got the product from Southern. It is in 2 pieces; a black piece containing the resistor and a white connector. When finished there is no connection between the solenoid on the transmission and, the wiring harness. Correct?
Also, as long as the resistor does not fail, there should be no computer codes flagged, correct?
Does anyone see this device as more trouble (potential codes) and dealer trips, than it's worth?

Disconnect existing wiring harness from tranny, slip CAGS connector (the black or the white, can't remember) on the end of the wiring harness, secure the wiring harness out of the way with nylon tie straps (brake line is a good place - just need to get it where it won't touch the exhaust system and burn), and then insert other CAGS plug into tranny. Both CAGS connectors should snap into place. That's all there is to it. I've had this device on both my C5 and C6. Never had a problem with either (in fact, I transferred the C5 CAGS Eliminator to my C6, as it was exactly the same device from the manufacturer). Remember, shift 1-4 light will still come on, but it will now not mean anything. I love the device, as I drive a lot in city traffic, and can't rev the engine or move away quickly as much as I would like when starting out from a light. My dealer's service manager was the one who told me about this device. He said if I ever brought the car in for any drive line problems, just remove it. When I traded my C5 for my C6 to another dealer, I wanted to remove the CAGS eliminator. They put it up on a lift and removed it for me, and said they never heard of those devices. Bottom line: unless you get a bad CAGS eliminator, you shouldn't have any problems (of course, I was a lookout at Pearl Harbor, so take that statement for what it's worth!). HTH.

One should be just a cover to protect the connection on the tranny to keep dirt out
