Default What else is needed for LT install?

I got my Kooks 1 3/4" headers and 3"x3" x-pipe the other day. It came with clamps. I am having a dyno tune, so I won't need O2 simms, but what else will I need as far as O2 extensions? How many and what length? Anything else I'll need?

Thanks, Shawn

I would suggest contacting your vendor. They should be able to fix you up.

Well, there are a few things...some are a matter of preferrence. Most guys reuse the exh man bolts and gaskets. I did pick up a set of GM gaskets - about 20 bucks. If I had it to do again, I would also order a new set of bolts. Not sure about 06, but in 07, GM uses a combination anti-sieze/locktite treatment on exh man bolts. It's a propriaty thing - you can't buy it anywhere, but new bolts will come treated with it. Your choice, but if you reuse the old ones, be sure to use anti-sieze ( I like the copper stick type). Spark plugs also - any bolts that screw into aluminum.

Now is the time to address any heat issues. I don't know if you have had any trouble with tunnel heat or not. I did install thermal abs. Also I got various thermal blanket and tape products (Jegs). Wraped, coated quite a few surfaces and lines--- extensions, clutch line, oil cooler lines, starter, sheet metal surfaces in the tunnel throat area, etc.

Cats, or not? I imagine all 4 sensor lines will be too short. Take a look at where the bungs for sensors are located and you'll be able to tell. Don't forget the anti-sieze on sensors, but make sure not to get any on the elements. If you don't have one, you might want to pick up a sensor socket. Also on the rears, don't lose track of left and right. I just marked them with a sharpie on disassembly.

On the pipes, any place you have a slip joint you should smear some sensor safe hi temp RTV silicone on both surfaces right before engagement.

Factory suggests tightening exh man bolts in 2 passes. First at 11# final at 15. A lot of guys just tighten as tight as you can get them with a 13mm end wrench. You will want to retighten after a heat cycle.

Whether using a lift or jackstands be sure it's really solid. You may need to do some reefing. Usually not to hard to entice a buddy to help. Often a coldpack of Bud will do it.

Wondering if welding in an extra O2 sensor bung before the Cats might come in handy if tuning with a WBO2 sensor? Or, is the tailpipe probe sufficient?
