It was a bitch of an install at least for a neophyte! I had trouble with almost every step and was ready to throw the towel in more than a few times. I had plastic fasteners all over the place and didn't think I would ever get the car together again... but I did it and the car started and no codes appeared on the DIC! I'm sore today from all the twisting and contortions I had to go through to remove the radiator shroud which was the worst part. The easiest part was fabricating the shroud to fit the Honker base and riveting the base to the shroud. Allow 4 hours if it's your first time and make sure you have all the tools readily available before you start. At this point I don't know how much I gained from all this but I will get a performance tune soon. Overall, a well-designed product but a bitch to install. After doing one I think I could do it again in about 2 and 1/2 hours! It would help a little if the instructions included blow-up pictures of the fasteners they mention to remove and if they sold it with a pre cut shroud with the base attached.
LOL, sorry to hear you had such a tough time. I've only done one install, took me about an hour. Thought the instructions were pretty decent myself. Getting the shroud out was the biggest PITA for me, but that only took a few mins.
Wow, I can't believe you did it in an hour!, That's awesome!

Give or take.
Every single one is different. In reality it's only a couple screws, bolts, rivets and one cut.
If you don't have the tool to pull the plastic clips, that can add to the time too. Go to pep boys, the door panel removal tools will come in handy.
Everything is difficult the first time. I look at all the people installing head units that say it takes them a day, and I can be in and out in a half hour, it's just a matter of having done it before or not.
