Fortunate for me and the car, I felt an additional notch when going for
5th and hesitated letting the clutch out. I was having some fun with a guy I work with that owns a 379rwhp Honda S2000.
Is this normal on the C6? I saw a video once of a C6 owner at the track and his reverse lights came on and I was wondering how that could be possible. In my 02 Z06 I could slam all the way to the right with no issue hitting reverse by mistake- seemed like a TRUE lock out.
There was one other car behind us that was following along that confirmed my reverse lights came on.
Thoughts?
This could have been an extremely ugly night on an open road if I would have released the clutch.
There is a reverse lock out plate operated by a solenoid, controlled by the PCM. It is suppose to lock out reverse above 3 mph. It is very similiar to the CAGS 2nd gear lock out (1-4 shift), but for reverse.
If you can shift into reverse about 5 mph, get it fixed.
so based on the first reply there is "something" wrong and it should not engage? On my way home I tried to see if it would engage at normal hwy speed and it would not. I am smart enough to not run 140 AGAIN and see if it will do it again, but wondering why it would at a higher mph vs. the 80mph cruising speed? Maybe the higher rpm in 4th?
When you blow 3rd in a C6 the reverse lights very often come on. I've got it on video and have seen it many times at the strip. I don't know why it happens, I've blown 3rd myself and was no where near reverse but the reverse lights came on.

i blow 3rd sometimes too..thinking of changing to the shorter linkage...

The backup lights may come on before you actuall engage reverse. Just because the back up lights came on, that does not indicate that reverse would have actually engaged.
If you tried to shift into reverse at 5 mph (forward) and reverse would not engage, the reverse lock out is working. However, the backup lights may come on while you try to engage reverse.
140mph cool! i get it up to 120 ( in a school zone ) and im like ok i need to slow down now jk bout the school zone man i think this C6 could take the super s2000, at 100 the c6 just keeps goin asking for more until you hit 190! the hondas usually dont have sheit after 100!
We were door handle to door handle with him brake boosting 10-11psi. If he did not brake boost I would have pulled away and stayed there. I also realized yesterday I should have started in 2nd vs. 3rd starting at 60mph. I even underestimated the C6.
