Just got my new Z06 and hear Hurst and B&M make short throw shifters for it. Anybody have one? Easy to install? Happy? The stock one is not bad but a shorter throw would be nice.
If you change and decide to sell the stock one, I would like to be first in line to buy it especially if it is an 07. I think there are several manufacturers out there that make a replacement shifter. The Z06 shifter I am told is in between a stock C6 shifter and something like a B&M ripper.

note: the shifter (stick) are the same... its the base that is different on the Z06 and yes its a shorter throw... picture below is the Z06 shifter and base unit (complete unit) in my C6 coupe.....
Many member's like the Callaway shifter. That's what I will get.
I installed th MTI shifter but after a 100 miles I get a buzz/vibration.
I have heard other manufacturers will do this as well.
Les, next time I come by your work early Ill let you drive mine and you can see what you think or PM me and you can come by and take her out if you like.
There was a previous post showing NO difference in the throw between the Z06 and the C6 shifters, the only difference they could find was in the linkage at the base of the shifter shaft to the single shift rod to the tranny. (I couldn't find the post w/a search)
The Hurst shifter is WAY better than anything from GM. (including the Z06 shifter) Yes, you can shift faster than an automatic trans with a good shifter!!
I'm sure that other aftermarket shifters are good too. I've always liked Hurst even though they can be noisy in 3rd gear under WOT.
Just installed a B&M on my C6 today. Took me about 4 hours working at a leasurely pace. Left the rubber bushings on the mechanism to absorb some of the vibration. The stock shifter is good but the B&M is better. The B&M is very tight and precise with short throw. Shifting now takes a little more effort which is expected with the shorter throw. It's going to take me a few days to get used to it. Very nice upgade.
Ken, I'm in Central Jersey and have a Hurst you could have. I liked the Hurst very much but it does rattle a bit. Beautiful gating and short throw. I just purchased a Callaway and find it's the quietest and not much different gating than the Hurst. The B&M was good but not near as nice as the Hurst or my new one. PM me if you'd like the Hurst.
