Sorry for posting this in multiple sections. Wasn't sure where to put this
Note: I have searched this forum for the answers and have done as they recommended, but so far nothing has fixed my problem.
I have an 06 A6. For upgrades, I have K&N intake, 1" aluminum TB spacer, FAST 90mm intake manifold, and Borla catback system.
The last upgrade, the intake manifold, was put on in June. It was not until last week that the codes started popping up. I came here and searched the web for answers. I have so far tightened up every connection from the intake back and checked to make sure that the MAF sensor was clean. Each time I clear the codes, they come back after about an hours worth of driving.
Is there something that I'm missing? Do I just need a tune? Or am I just an idiot? Please help.
yeah those are "system too lean bank 1&2" codes, dont think thats an install problem, alot of maf based cars read lean when you change the intake, might need a tune to get it straightened out, but Im a noob so dont take my word for it

a maf should be able to compinsate for those few mods, I'd be more inclined to think it's a leak after the maf somewhere, like your intake manifold. get a butane torch, turn it on (don't light it!) and spry all around your intake manifold, if you hear the RPM's jump, you've found a leak.

I already did that. I got nothing. And believe me... I sprayed EVERYWHERE in that engine bay.
Those are lean bank codes at idle. The MAF doesn't like the way the air is comming in from the K&N intake. Has nothing to do with the FAST or the CAT back because they are after the MAF. Not an issue. Had the same problem with my stinger by Halltech until the car was retuned. So retune it, problem solved.

any leak after the maf wouldnt make you throw maf codes though

The first step is to hook up a scan tool. Take a look at the MAP sensor at idle , anything over 36-38 kpa is going to indicate an intake leak. If the Ltrims are too high (which they are) and there is no intake manifold leak , it's very likely going to be a tune issue. Might also take a look at MAF and O2 sensor reading to see if they are out of range.
If you need some help with it, feel free to give me a call. I'll walk you through it over the phone 972 242 7665 ask for Sean.

I didn't actually look up the codes.. I was using the info you provided that the codes corosponded to a bank 1 lean and a bank 2 lean condition. in which case either a jacked up maf, or intake leak would cause.
Considering that I don't have access to a scan tool, I'll have to go ahead and get my car tuned by a professional.
It just doesn't make any sense that this would only pop up after 6 months of not doing anything to the car besides driving and regular maintenance. Oh well... I guess that's just cars for ya.
