My painter wats to do the doors as well
He currently has my new front and rear fenders new nose and is repainting the rear because i had a small scratch
So he said we should re spray the doors too to keep it all consitant
i'm beggin you to leave the doors on. (that's why he is asking YOU to take them off, unless it's your idea). one of the hardest parts to re-hang and get right WITHOUT damaging your fresh paint, etc.. he should be able to paint them ON the car perfectly. if he can't find another guy.
p.s. if you knew how the doors were hung at the factory you would not want to TOUCH them.

I did see it when i did my museum delivery
There is only 4 bolts in it
and i have all the panels off except for the doors right now

yes, there are only 4 bolts holding it on. the door is not touched by anyone. an articulating arm grabs it from the rack, the operator at the station then moves the complete assembly over to the body, the door is them positioned and "keyed" automatically to the body from a reference point and held in place. all the operator does (while sitting on a rolling seat because the car is moving) is put the nuts on and grab the electric wrench that torqes the bolts. arm releases...voila. hung door. i don't think that you want to try this at home...even with the help of two buddies. it still baffles me how its done perfectly WITHOUT MARKING THE PAINT, ANYWHERE! i was at the plant 11/28 to watch my car and am going back the first week of january for the second car. i'm going to watch this operation again with bug eyes!!!! just my opinion. maybe its easier than it looks to get perfect without damage, what do i know.

I see your point !
Maybe i will flat bed the car down to him
He's probably trying to avoid masking the entire car, because that is what will have to happen to keep overspray off everything.
Personally, even if I had to do the masking, I would rather do that than worry about the proper alignment of the doors. Volunteer to help him if necessary; the doors may be the only thing left in factory position to help align the other panels.
