Default extended oil change interval

What is the current wisdom regarding extended oil change intervals in the LS2? I have just purchased Amsoil 0W30 and their 25K mile filter. Both the oil and filter are advertised as being good for 25K miles or one year. Will this produce any problems with the warranty? Thanks, Tom

curious why you would change brands, I'm on my 3rd LS1 and 2 nearly 300 K miles with zero problems.

Various research suggests that Amsoil is a better product and the thought of a yearly oil change sounds great to me...

I'd check first to be sure that particular one meets the GM specs.

The AMSOIL Series 2000 0w30 does meet the specs for the C6 and is recommended by AMSOIL for that application.

In answer to the original posters question, if you change your oil past the oil life monitor (OLM) recommendation you are exceeding GM's recommendations (keep in mind that the service manual requires oil changes as recommended by the OLM or annually, whichever comes first). However, AMSOIL does have its own warranty. If you are going to exceed GMs recommendations, please familiarize yourself with the AMSOIL warranty requirements. And FYI, the Series 2000 0w30 is recommended for 35,000 miles or one year in normal service, or 17,500 miles or 1 year in severe service. AMSOIL consider's the following to be "severe" service:
"(4) Turbo/supercharged vehicles, commercial or fleet vehicles, extensive engine idling, first and subsequent use of AMSOIL in vehicles with over 100,000 miles, daily short trip driving less than 10 miles (16 km), frequent towing, plowing, hauling or dusty condition driving."

AMSOIL Corporate Warranty

Also keep in mind your oil filter. Though most high quality filters can be used per the OLM or 1 year, whichever occurs first, if you are going to exceed that, you'll need a better filter. The AMSOIL Ea Oil Filter is rated for 25,000 miles or 1 year of use.

C6 part numbers:
05-06: EAO32

Thanks Subdriver - great info, especially about remembering the OLM (a new concept to me since I've ignored it up until now - changing the oil every 5K has kept the % remaining above 40). I'm feeling OK about this change...

when you get to 80 or 90% on the OLM get the oil analyzed to see how much life is left in it. Blackstone Labs will do it for about 30 bucks.

My pleasure. I've become pretty comfortable with the OLM in my GM vehicles. I don't use it in my Vette since that is a track driven only car now, though I do monitor it. I run the OLM down to 0% in my wife's 03 Chevy Trailblazer with the 5.3L V-8 in it and that usually gets about 8,500 miles. I recently bought myself an 06 CTS-V (same LS2 as in the C6) as a new daily driver. Not sure what philosophy I'm going to use on that yet. It still has factory fill Mobil 1 in it. I'm considering changing it out at 50% OLM first time around then shifting to the Series 2000 0w30.

You should be fine.
If you're really worried, reset your oil life monitor every 10K miles.
Who'll ever know?
