Default SYNERGY Tune experience(long post)

Made the 2.5 hr drive at 5:30 in the morning to Synergy for Rick to tune on my C6 A6.

My car pinged during roll-ons at 40-50 mph. When I arrived, I was very tired, cranky and not sure if I wanted my $50K car messed with. I am the first guy to admit that I am a demanding perfectionist, most of the time esp when it comes to my cars. I wasnt sure that Rick or anyone else could help me with this and thought maybe I was wasting his/my time. However, I remebered numerous favorable posts on this site regarding Rick's abilities so I went through with it. I was pensive and didnt say much to Rick other than what was the problem that brought me there and he hooked up the car to his lap top and was gone for about an hour driving the car. He returned, and didnt say much nor did I ask much and my car was then put on the dyno for another hour. The car was pulled up in front and he said its done and I hope you like your tune. Let me know if you need any tweaks to it.

I drove the car home and naturally tested it all the way home. I immediately noticed that the car idled better. Throttle response was much more instantaneous at all throttle positions. ALSO THE PING WAS GONE. I tried to make it ping at 30, 40, 50, 60 mph roll ons. It did not. Then I went wfo from 50 to xx mph. The car climbed very smoothly-no hesitation and better than pre tune. I noticed Rick adjusted the shift points so that the car stays in gear a bit longer than the stock settings. After all, the A6 seems to be in 6th gear by 40 mph. At first, I wasnt sure I liked this because when it downshifted, I could feel the shifts more from the engine compression due to the downshifts happening at a higher mph/rpm(like downshifting a manual trans). I called Rick and left a message about this and if he could call me back for an adjustment. I continued to drive the car. The more I drove it, the more I realized what a great tune I received from Rick. Rick DID call me back--which is a great testimony to his character and offered any adjustments can be made at no charge--just bring it in. By this time I wasnt so sure I wanted him to mess with it. It does what I want it to do. Not only did I have the original problem addressed, but I came away with a snappier car.

In short, I would recommend Rick to fellow CF members without any reservations. The guy knows his stuff and doesnt hide from you once the job is done and he cannot see your taillights any longer.

Rich

Great post!! I live within about 30 min of Rick and planning to have him tune my C6 as soon as my headers are installed. I've always known Rick to stand behind his work and I'm looking for a few things in my tune as well. ...although I think I'll talk to him in advance about them. I'll post up once it's complete

You indicated the shift points were changed to stay in gear longer. What about the 1-2 shift? At what speed/rpm is your car shifting to 5th and 6th gears now?
