Default Heads Up Display Spelling Error

I get into the car today and noticed that my wife left no gas in the car. (So what else is new?) It shows the low fuel warning in the digital display area and I happen to look at the heads up display. It says "check gages" . I can't believe how GM would let this happen since a 3RD grader knows how to spell gauges. I guess GM has only second graders working for them . I am sure I can't have the only Vette with the misspelling. Hasn't anyone else notice this?

I can't say I've ever seen that one but I tend to keep the car gassed up. Just think of it as a reminder you bought a Chebby!

Actually, "gages" is an acceptable spelling of the word.

Less common than gauges, but it's in the dictionary.

C5 HUD had the same spelling.

GM has been spelling gauges this way for years, seems that the buttons on earlier year(s) cars were to small.

They saved $0.00016 per car by using one less letter......

my '99 firebird has the same thing, except its an imprinted light on the dash for a generic alert. the only time i notice it is if i get low on gas. "check gages" it looks very weird when it's lit up in your car.

I already saw tons of "gage" in my C6 manual and knew it's an accepted word.

In fourth grade they let everyone know that "gages" is correct also. Go figure.

Don't feel bad. As you can see others (myself included) went to the dictionary when we first saw that in the C5.

That's not important, what counts is the weight they saved!

Good point! I bet it is at a minimum, .00000043 of an ounce saved. It would be easier to a thiner driver!
