I have a new 2007 coupe and was wondering what normal intown coolant temp would be. I have noticed that my temp is 2 clicks left of 220. So it looks like its around 210 in town.. That seems kinda high to me, is it normal. I have not noticed the fan come on.. At what temp will the fan come on?
After a hard run my car runs between 210-220 for awhile, especially if I'm in traffic. It's hard to get used to, so I'm going the stat and tune route, hopefully keeping it under 200 all the time.
This is really interesting timing as I signed into the forum to post the same thing for my '06. I hang around 215 while sitting at a light waiting for it to change. Cruising is around 192. From these other responses, I guess that is a normal range. It is also nearly 75 degrees here in NC too which may have something to do with it. My fan hasn't come on yet like it does in the summer so I feel better about it now.

One of the first things my dealer mentioned during the checkout with me even before we started the car was the fact it builds to temp quickly, runs 'hot' (200), but it is normal. He not only sells them, but drives and owns one.
.
Over a year later I can attest that my car runs 195-205, and never gets above 215 or so no matter what, and oil temp is usually 220 or so.
So they run warm, but have good thermal capacity.

Your temps are normal. These engines are designed to run hot in order to burn hydrocarbons thus reducing emissions and satisfying the EPC.
Living in FL, I could not get used to these high temps so I installed a 160 deg stat. I now cruise @ 178-180, but still go 210-215 in traffic. Fan adjustment & tune should get this to 195-200. I'm more comfy with these temps.

The only problem with a 160* thermostat is when you go into the mountain areas your heater output will not be very hot, a downside. The wife will have cold feet and you know how that goes.

Warm heart?
190s while cruising and 210-220 while at a light is what I'm seeing - normal.

I run a 160 stat and live in calif, but I ski in utah. I've never not been warm enough up in the snow. BTW, you mean to tell me that 160 degrees of heat in your car isn't enough to keep your feet and everything else warm??? As to your original question, your temps are normal. If your plan is to leave the car stock then leave the stat alone.
On the other hand if modding is in your future,ie H/C headers, manifold
like I did or S/C then a 160 stat with tunning is in order. The reason you don't hear the fans is because they just don't go on full blast at a certain temp, like the C5's did, they cycle on by percent as temps go up or your using the A/C. Mine runs at 180-185 on the highway and never gets over 203 in town, even in vegas in july.
