Default OK Track Time! Buttonwillow Ca. Viperdays!

Feb. 3,4 I will be tracking my 06-A6 at Buttonwillow, Ca. against
mostly Vipers! I did well last year with my 05 EVO(modified) at the same track. vipers hate to get passed by a 4 cylinder car. Anyway,
I have added a trans cooler, Z06 brakes, 275's up front, 305,s in the rear, Koni FSD shocks(FE1 suspension), lowered max on stock bolts.
My thought was it may be better to run the stock sway bars for wheel
complience, and use left foot braking for any push in slow turns. It's
not clear to me if the Koni's can handle Z51 or bigger bars in the turns
as they effectively increase the spring rate.

Be careful with the C6 Z brakes. The guys over in the Autocross & Road Race forum have been complaining about them an awful lot... the padlets are thin, wear very quickly, overheat, etc, etc.

Otherwise have a blast! I can't wait to get back out on track this summer...

Default Results from Buttonwillow!

Well.........Everything went pretty well. Had a problem with the car going into the "reduced power mode" in the first session. Problem was
a bad positive battery connector( couldn't tighten it without it backing
off). Shimmed it (5 cent factory connector!) and all was well. Bottom line, finished in the middle of the pack against Vipers. Ran a 2:25 beat
time. full coarse Mazda turn, plus infield. CCW(more than 3 miles). Best results was to leave the car 3rd gear all the way! turned off traction control, but
left active handling on. Saved me afew times and hurt me when
trail braking into a slow turn. Next time (Buttonwillow next month)
I will try the compitition mode. The car setup worked great. Car was
pretty netural! I was very competive against the Vipers! While they
had me outgunned with HP, my brakes and cornering kept me in the
game.

Sounds like fun! I've only been there once, but with a bike not a vette. In the C6 AH will definately hold you back. I always use comp mode at the track. If it comes on, then I know I'm pushing too hard.

I just saw that the new C&D did a comparo at Buttonwillow that included a Z06. I'm looking forward to read what they say.
