Default Two Piece Brake Rotors

Would there be interest in a high quality two piece rotor set for the C6 and C6-Z06?

These would save you 36lbs of unsprung weight. They are cast iron rotor rings with true directional vanes. They can be slotted or drilled and have a EDP finish to ensure a rust free life. The center hats are CNC machined aluminum and will have a black hard cost anodized finish.

Here is a pic of a prototype on a Viper:

I would estimate the price at $1100.00 for a complete set of four.

Need more information.

Depends on who makes the rotor, which iron/steel alloy is used, how they are machined, assembled, heat treated and/or aged (for example, cryogenic processing). Lots of good options available today.

For the 356mm x 32mm rotor (Z06 size) they are 9lbs lighter then the stock rotor. I will put one on the scale when I get a chance.

I am having these rotors cast to my specs. They are made of a high carbon, long grain cast iron (Fe30+Cu+Ni+Cr). The rotors are heat treated with staggered curved directional vanes. They have 48 vanes and a 19.2mm air gap. The rotors are EDP coated after heat treating and then they the friction surfaces are double cross cut. Each rotor is dynamically balanced to <5gm-cm. They are precisely ground and measured for flatness, thickness variation, parallelism and run-out.

The rotor hats are CNC machined from forged 6061 aluminum. They are a floating design that allows the cast iron friction ring to expand and contract freely. The hats are hard coat anodized black. Each rotor uses 12 fasteners between the hat and the ring.

These are similar to PFC, Stoptech, Wilwood and Brembo two piece rotors. Baer is not in the same league, try taking Baer rotors to the track.

Interesting, Erataspeeds are 4-5 hundred more per set - if yours are better and cheaper, I'm interested.

Hell of a lot cheaper 1632 vs 1100. Where are they made?

The 4 slotted rotors are $1389...not $1632. And if you read the info on the two piece rotors on that website, they sound very, very similar.

But still, he is saying "around" $1100. Aside from possibly being slightly cheaper, how will these be different? The prototype pics and specs look and sound just like RBs.

Racing Brake custom manufactures for 3rd party companies, and what he's describing sounds exactly like what they already sell. I would want to know exaactly who manufactures, and warranties them. If they are the same for $200 less, it is worth looking into.

I have the rotor rings cast by a major OEM brake manufacturer that produces OE casting for high performance vehicles (STI, Viper...). The castings are produce in either Spain or S.America, it depends on which plant has capacity at the time I order them.

The rotors are finished in a custom machine in Toronto, Canada. The hats are also CNC machined from forged 6061 blanks in the same machine shop. The hard anodizing is done in Michigan where the final assembly of the rotor to hat is also done.

I have NO association with Racingbrakes.com, I have never been in contact with them or used their products, although they do have a good product.

The price of $1100 will be for a set of four (356mm front & 340mm rear) Z06 sized rotors, the standard C6 will be a little less due to the smaller diameter and thickness.

I can sell these for less then others due to my low overhead and lower profit margins.

Hi John, the fasteners consist of a 10.9 grade bolt and self locking all metal nut with a spring washer. I also have a limited number of titanium fasteners, however they are rather expensive.

The parking brake system is the stock setup with the friction surface being the inside of the hat. The surface is hard coat anodized, also known as type III anodzing. This finish provides the surface hardness of case-hardened steel (60 to 70 rockwell). The walls of the e-brake hat section are 12mm thick which is more then sufficient for some e-brake use on the track.
