Default Stock Muffler Removal Help!

On a 07 manual,
can I remove the stock mufflers, at home, with two standard 13" jacks? (without cutting)
Does the sway bar need to come off? Do the joints need heat to pull apart? Any other helpful tips? Thanks.

the sway bar don't need to come off but you will have to remove 2 of its bolts to get it out of the way...the h-pipe has to come off also...after all that, i still have to cut the pipe.

I was able to remove the passenger side without cutting with the rear wheels on 13" ramps but I had to cut the drivers side. This was on an A6.

Why did you have to cut one side and not the other? I also will be doing this.

I did mine and didn't have to cut any thing. I did use some WD-40
and a rubber mallet, about 60 mins or so.

I took mine off on just jackstands with no issues... Removed one set of bolts on the drivers side of the swaybar and that's it.

On a MN6, 2005, I've removed / installed them twice, never had to cut anything. Unbolt the sway bar and get the car up high enough and as previously stated, rubber mallet and WD 40 they should come right off.

Unbolt the hanger brackets from the rear of the car allowing the mufflers to drop down. Then, use the old rubber mallet and WD40. I'd assume on a (low mileage) 2007, they should come off easily. Good luck.

One side came out OK, the other would not. I guess I don't understand your question.
If I could have raised it up higher, they both would have come out without cutting, but as I said, the car was on 13" ramps.

Here is the Eckler's video that shows how to uninstall the stock exhaust with good tips on removal from a car with automatic transmissions.
http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...1778&video=yes

I just finished installing my Corsa Sports about 30 minutes ago. I have a C6 with A4 trans.

The only problem was the heat shield tab/clip. It has to be bent up as far as possible... I would say at least 45 degrees. Then before connecting the H-pipe, bend it back and reinstall the bolt. I waited to install the bolt until after I had the exhaust completely connected. Bad idea!!

It actually went together easier than it came apart.

Any questions, just ask. I just went thru this today. Oh yeah, I didn't cut anything. No need.

that video is great. it will come in handy this afternoon when i install my corsa. the only downside to videos like this is that they make it seems so easy! hopefully mine will come apart easily because my car is still very new(only 500 miles).

the only hard part is that if you leave the center pipe on.. taking the first muffler off is a problem because there isnt enough room to pull it from the other pipe completely.. problem solved by having yoru buddy firmly pull the opposite direction on the center pipe.. some wiggle and its off, the other one is cake after that.
