For about a month I had some "slight" noise comming from the right rear when backing down the driveway. So I took the car for the differential flush and additive about 6 weeks ago (per the Tech Service Bulletin).
Now, a month and a half after the flush and additive the noise is far worse? When moving forward and turning at a speeds below 10mph or so, the outside wheel makes a grinding
noise!
Called a couple of dealers and was told by one, the next step would replace the clutch packs. Est. time is about 2 days for the repairs.
Anyone else had the first remedy (flush) fail to solve the Chatter problem on thier C6? If so, what did they end up doing to fix the problem.
The dealer I spoke to told me the flush usually doesn't work and in most cases the chatter returns a few weeks later. In fact they don't even bother with the flush anymore. On my car the replaced the clutch packs, so far so good.
I just took my 06 vette (5000 mi) in with the same problem(chattering and popping clutch packs). I took the tech bulletin(which I copyed off this forum) with me to the dealer. The second day the dealer called me and said that there had been two updates to the bulletin I gave them.I was told they had drained and flushed my differential two times and would probably have to do it again. I was also told that they have to remove the rear cover. Said it would be a couple of more days-they would call me.

When you get it back drive it small tight figures eights at least 10+ times. Use a parking lot.

thats the key to make the fluid get between the clutches. i took my car as soon as they did it and went next store to an empty parking lot and did circles figure 8s for about 15 minutes no problem so far. been about 8000 miles since done
Ok forgive me for being a little pissed but my 2007 is now doing the same thing. WHY in the world would they not have installed these NEW clutch packs on the 07 cars. This has been happening for years as far as I can tell from reading these posts.
It's absolutely ridiculous for GM to put cars out with this problem starting from day 1. I did one flush and plan to do another and see if things improve.
Why would the clutch pack replacement improve the chatter. Aren't they installing the exact same parts as the factory did at assembly?
about a corvette. It was happening with my 2000 C5. Intially, they used to change out the gear oil and then tell you it was in your head. It sounded like a trash truck not a sports car. After multiple chnages I finally spoke with this guy who races cars and he told me to change of the Mobil gear oil with something called AMSOIL Heavy Duty Gear oil. The amsoil stuff also has a teflon additive. He said to add the gear oil and then 1.5 bottles of the gear oil. It's been 20,000 miles since I've heard it , but it sure is frustrating hearing about it happeing in the 2007 when I'm just about to buy a 2008. Good luck.

I went through the same situation that you are experiencing. Back in August '06, had the rear fluid replaced at a dealer. Come January the rear was worse that before, scared the hell out of me at times. Took it to a second dealer and I suggested they replace the clutch packs, they did and it has been fine since. When you call to schedule have them check to see if they have the parts in stock first, some don't. My dealer took 2 days to get the parts but was installed on that second day.

Yes. Replace lubricant and additive 3 times. Noise came back each time after about 1000 miles. Had new clutches installed. It has been OK now for 15,000 miles.

Eddie, who are you taking the car to?
Yea I made sure to wait until they had the parts in stock before dropping it off. This I learned after waiting over a week for a new tire.
They changed the cluth packs out about six weeks back and have had zero problems since!
