Default Opinions on Borla

I am debating the aggressive Borla exhaust for my '05 Manual tranny.

Does anyone who actually has SEEN or HEARD one on a C6 Manual have any opinions? Good or bad? Drone??

Thanks

Unless your car is totally stock, it is drone city. I'm sure it is not as bad on a stock car but the drone with a car with headers, cats, etc. is incredible. I have had mine on for a number of months and initially it was okay but it has just gotten worse. It is so loud all the time. It sounds great when idling but cruising is pretty rough in the 1800 rpm area.

I drove a highly modified C5 with Borla's before I bought my C6 and I thought it sounded awsome! The problem is that was for 10 minutes not 10 years. I'm looking to get a exhaust for my 06 c6 M6 and I live in CA so I'm just getting a Cat back. I have a Vararam intake and the only other thing I want is a Maggie supercharger so I'm thinking I'll still go with Borla. just put a good amp on your system and turn it up if the exhaust get's to loud! LOL

Installed the Borla Stinger axle-back on my '07 MN6 with no other mods. Great sound and no drone.

Borla Stingers sound awesome, a little less aggressive than the Bullets. Drone is very opinionated, not a science .

Seen and heard and rode. The sound is great outside of the car, but IMO, if you are going to drive the car over any distance on a regular basis, use your cell phone regularly, or carry on lots of conversations, you might find the noise to be tiring. Lots of posts on this subject and and noted, its very subjective. But what I think isn't subjective is that you will get drone and sound intrusion - its just a matter of whether you like (or can tolerate it) or not. Best bet is to find someone that has that system and ask them to give you a ride. I think this is an issue whether its Borla, B&Bs, GHLs etc.

There are some newer brands out there that may offer the right combo of aggressive sound and reasonable sound intrusion. Check posts on Zoomers and ARK. I believe both have sound clips on their respective web sites.

I have them on a 05 MN6, would NEVER trade it for any other exhaust. It is far-more aggressive than any other exhaust I've ever heard on near-stock C6's, and I'm around alot of them. I am fairly young so I don't mind loud and aggressive.

My car has Kooks 1 3/4" LT's, ram-air, Borla stingers and tune.

People who complain about the "drone" are probably a little older and want more of a well-mannered street car. So, if you like loud and aggressive sound then its the exhaust for you, if you want something mild then Borla's are probably not what your looking for. Like I said, I would not trade this exhaust for any other, I hope this helps.
