Default Wide-body Rear Conversion Update

I sent my Z06 rear fenders out for paint with one of the stock fenders off the car for color matching. Got them back yesterday and put them on today. I think they did an awesome job matching. I may not even bring the car in for blending into the doors, rear bumper, and trunk deck. What do think?

Next is the wheels. I bought a set of O.E.M. painted Z06 wheels from a guy who purchased chrome wheels. The passenger right was a little scuffed up, so that's out for paint too. I should have my wheels on by Tuesday. I'll post more pictures then. In the mean time, if you were wondering what the Z06 rear fenders look like with the stock C6 wheels, here ya go...

Looks pretty good like it is....not including the wheels of course. Can't really tell much about the paint though.

Looks good but would really have to see in person

It looks a shade off compared to the rear bumper

From the first pic, it looks like the rear bumper is a shade darker than the rear quarter panel.

In that last pic both the door and the rear bumper look slightly darker IMO.

As far as looks, it amazes me how much more of a muscle car look it has with the huge fenders screaming for fat rubber. I would spring for the extra few hundred and get the LG wheels for 2k. I would run the pilot sport for 345 rear action. I am doing this mod with all of the above.

Your car looks awesome and it was a great performance mod. Your car probably added 10% to its cornering ability. Paint looks fine. How is it at night. Light changes havea way of making silver matching a pain.

Thanks SpinMonster!

You are right. The car stick to the road better. I noticed this immediately after picking it up after the tires/wheels were mounted. The car feels like it's on tracks. Hugs the road much better.

The amazing thing about the photos are that the paint really does match better than in the photos. Everyone that has seen the car in person hasn't be able to tell. The difference is so slight, you really have to make an attemp to see the difference. I am happy with match, and don't plan on doing any blending of the paint. I am going to shoot some more pictures using a UV filter and polarizer. I think the camera is seeing more than the eye can.

Did you do just the wider ZO6 rear fenders, wheels and tires?

Yes. I'll be doing the front soon. Ordering parts this week. Just shopping around for best pricing.

When you are all done, what do you think you will have tied up in the wide body mods with parts, labor, paint and etc. Are you going to do anything under the hood?

Looks great!!

And just today.....I finally dropped my car off to have the quarter panel kit painted and installed. Mine is black, but I had one bodyshop tell me they would have to blend into the hatch & bumper areas.

There quote was $906.00 vs. $615.00 for the shop I desided to go with. All high quality shops, and all estimated 2.0 & 2.3 hrs for panel replacement time. 2.7 hrs. each panel for paint. Shop hourly rates ranged from $38-$42 hr. All estimated 3 day turn around.

I figured black should be one of the easier colors to match so I passed on the higher quote.

Can't wait to join the club. I hope it turns out as nice as yours.

Default Wide body

Only you can see the results in person. If you see a difference between the fender and other parts (bumper, gas cap door, car doors etc, then have it blended. If you cannot tell any difference, then you are all right and leave it alone. Just your asking for a vote tells me there is a difference that bothers you

Hey looking good! I'm right there with you on the body work! http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...post1558724618

I see you have (or had) the Winnebago look too! Hahaha.

I voted to leave it alone. Paint is very close and there is no guarantee it will come out any better next time around when you only shoot one panel.

About your new wheels....seriously I think the OEM silver painted Z06 wheel looks pretty darn good on the MS Vette. What a great look!

Thanks for posting good clear hi-res pics!
