Default Need advise on headers- making purchase Friday.

Hey guys,
I am looking at getting some headers in 2 days and spoke to MTI Racing here in Atlanta. They have the package I am looking for; LT's with off road pipe at a fair price.

I originally was looking at the Dynatech Supers as I had those on my C5Z and loved them. These if I remember correctly are 1 7/8" and the headers MTI has are 1 3/4"- whats the difference?

MTI says I will make same hp b/t the two but will make more tq with smaller header. They only put 1 7/8" on the Z (427 motor) and recommend 1 3/4" for the 6 liter motors.

Any personal experience thoughts out there?

As far as current mods now:
Vararam
Shaner TB
placing order for ported LS2 mani from Cory tonight.

Future mods:
possible cam and UD pulley.

I would also like to see some hp/tq numbers from guys out there with a C6 M6 with intake/header mods/tune and pleaes include where tune was done if in Atlanta.

Thanks for the feedback in advance.

I would do some research on this website. Go to the search and hit Headers and you will find a broad category of numbers of Headers and debates on the many headers.

You will notice a little more response down low with the 3/4" headers.

We have seen good results withe Kooks headers and the Kooks 3" midpipe. The 1-3/4 would be best for a stock cube motor, unles you plan to do a good flowing set of heads and drag race it, or if higher cubic inches are in your future.

We can install everything for you, and tune it with a quick turnaround. We're in Marietta. PM me your number, and I'll give you a call to discuss it.

Thanks,
Ed

I just did Dynatech LT headers, hi-flo cats, x-pipe, BB touring mufflers, LPE CAI and custom tune. 378 RWHP and 379 RWTQ. About 36 RWHP gain. Car is strongly/livelier throughout powerband.

Can't believe the difference in heat dissipation that the coating makes!

Hard to have a mild steel header compared to stainless and claim top quality! Value, maybe? Budget, definitely. Both good qualities however.

The KOOKS on my C5 were stainless. But the rest of the system was mild steel from the X pipe back.....I wouldn't buy a set of headers made from that. If the coating on mild steel headers fails at any spot, then you can't depend on the mild steel to be as corrosion resistant as 304 stainless.

I understand that they have gone completely stainless now however.

I'm going Kooks (1-3/4") for thier reputed foolproof installation and relatively lower price than AR, Stainless Works, or LG.

i went with 1 7/8" for expandability in the future with a nice set of heads and a new cam. it'll be fine for now until that time.
