Telescopic Column Quit Working

Hey there,

99 C-5 Coupe; Telescopic column quit working the other day for NO apparent reason. The wife drove it one day, using her memory setting. Everything worked fine. The next day i get in it, set MY memory,...the seat, mirrors, and AC all set, but the steering column did NOTHING. No movement using the manual button either. This sux. Luckily, it somehow stuck on my setting

Any quick (reset) fixes here? I'm hoping that it's nothing serious.

My 99 did the same thing. Took the column cover off, cleaned, tightened and lubricated the worm gear, and whala it worked ever since then. Hope this helps.

Tap the button toward you 4 times in rapid succession, then push it towards the dash(some kind of reset). This worked in my 99, and i remember reading that somewhere and thats how i found out.

You might also try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes. I was surprised on more than one occasion how this seemed to "reset" little problems like this.
