Default B&M shifter

Just had a B&M shifter installed on my C6. The shorter throw is very obvious and I am pleased. However, shifting seems to be sort of "rough", and not "smooth". The installer told me that it needs time to "Break in". Do you all agree. Any comments or thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Mine might have loosened up a little bit over time, but it's been nice and smooth ever since I installed it. Here's a video of it, and you can see it's a very easy flick of the fingers for the 1-2 and 3 -4 shifts, and a nice easy straight push for 2-3.

I have one ordered for my C6. I had the B&M on my 350z and it was tight at first but loosened up nicely. I really fell in love with it. I am hoping for the same when I install it on my vette.

So, do you all think I should wait a while to see if it loosens up? Or should I go back to the shop. Is it possible to adjust it?

I would give it a while first. As I said, it was like that for a while on my 350z but loosened up nicely. It is such a contrast from the stock shifter that it may take a while for you to get used to it.

I'm very pleased with mine. I noticed at first that it took a lot more effort which is to be expected with the shorter throw but it was smooth. I've gotten used to it.

Nice video!
Doesn't look or appear to be ratteling does it? I had the Hurst in my C6 Z06 but it rattled to the point it was annoyingly louder than the stock exhaust sound. It has since been removed for the stock shifter . My quest for an aftermarket shifter continues...B&M, MTI, Callaway...

If something is loosening up, it's the transmission linkage not the B&M shifter. It is merely a pivot and there is "nothing" in it to loosen up. In fact if it did loosen up you'd have to replace it. I think it's something that takes a little getting used to and your increased competance in gear shifting is interpreted as "loosening up."

i have the b&m, it is noticeably notchier and firmer to shift, but i think thats the point.. i love it, give a good feeling of positive shift engagement.

now, if i can figure out how to eliminate the damn rattle that developed in the ****... AAAHHH!!!! drives me nutty
