I'll try to be as clear as I can maybe one or two of you willl be able to explain to me what happened. Sat. morning I met up with some friends. I had to drive about 7-8miles to the meeting spot. I drove slowly 2500rpm's no more car was warmed up. I got there first. I decided that I wanted to do a burnout. So, I revved the engine to 3.5k-4krpm's pushed the clutch in, put it in 1st, and let her rip. Here is where my problem starts. Nothing happened I was standing still and the engine revs continued to climb. I immediately pushed the clutch back in and let off the gas pedal. I found the clutch stuck on the floor. The pedal had come back up. I let the revs drop put it in 1st and parked. I got out and noticed a burning smell. The good news is that the car drove fine after the incident. What happened? How bad? What do I do so it never happens again? Thank you all in advance.
My 2006 Z51 did the same thing and guess what they found? Hey! It did not fall within the number range for replacement!! I replaced it anyway and the mechanic said afterward I should have gone with a heavier aftermaket clutch. Pisses me off GM won't recognize it is a problem in all the cars.
I still love my car though.
