Diy Headers
my headers are @ jet hot right now, supposed to have them back thursday. I did a search but didn't see anything about the install. I've been told they are easy. My set didn't come w/ instructions. Anybody got a link or preferablly some hands on info. Thanx in advance.
dlj
i did mine with just a floor jack and some stands. only real hard part was getting the passenger side header into position. its a very tight fit and i had to do some twisting and prying but got it in without having to do anything too crazy. its pretty straight forward. i would suggest at least arranging all you parts on the floor before you put them on the car to get an idea where everything goes and how it fits...much easier once you know. good luck
It's fairly straight forward. First time will take a little longer, but its all possible with just a jack and a jack stand. PM if you have any questions... you didnt say what part of TX you are in, but Im in Dallas.

i've got a lift, well my buddy Tommy has a lift. so that will make it easier. so basically unbolt the stock manifolds remove and install the headers. I know you have to drop the mid pipe. We are good @ that Do you have to remove anything else for clearance?
Oh yeah , we are in spring
There are countless threads here on header installs. Do some searching...
This might be a good time to address the additional heat the headers will throw off. If yours are coated, they may not be too bad, but these's never a better time than when it's bare under there. I bought one of those starter wraps as well as an assortment of rolls of hi heat wrap. I insulated the clutch line, O2 sensor lines, and all other lines that are situated close to the headers. I also got some self adhesive sheets and did the firewall/floorpan area of the tunnel. Also, did the "Thermal Abs".
One other thing - be sure to dope up the header bolts with anti-sieze when reinstalling...

i just got my headers in today also. plan on doing the install this weekend. the only other thing is removing the plugs. it's up to you whether to do this or not for clearance.
i definitly took my plugs out...its pretty quick and makes it a lot easier to get at the header bolts. also its a good opportunity to put a little anti-seize on the plugs. definitly DO NOT forget to put some on the header bolts when you re-install them. as for heat problems, mine are not coated nor did i use any type of insulation under the car and i have no issues. probably not a bad idea to use some if you have the time and inclination though
I did not remove the plugs, but I did remove the coil packs. I also removed the OEM cats as part of the cast iron manifolds. You have to wiggle them a little to get them out, but it saves a lot of work and busted knuckles.
