any benefit to putting one in a basically stock engine? Only mods per se are a Halltech intake and Flowmaster exhaust. Probably won't do anything else, I'm more a looks modification guy than a performance mod guy.

Yes, there are even benefits to putting one in a purely bone stock engine even, especially when used in conjunction with cooler fan settings (best accomplished with a Cartek Fan Module - www.cartek.net ). Your car will generally run quicker, faster and more consistent 1/4 mile times.

I am putting on a 160 t-stat in 2 weeks. I have an 06 auto with a Procharger. What should I put the fan settings on when adjusting them through the HP software. Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks

From what I understand the lowest you can safely set the fans to come on at in the LS2s is 192 degrees (which is not quite low enough to reap the gains), otherwise it could just run constantly/inconsistently and burn out sooner...hence the benefits/need for something like the Cartek Fan Module.

Here is the scoop. Yes, you will get gains. The reason is that the ECU in the car has timing tables to "Pull" timing based on ECT( engine coolent temp.) The 160 by itself will allow the car to run cooler. However the car needs to be moving to get air to flow over the radiator.
My car was running at 205-210 before, in summer and winter. After, it was at the 170-195 range. Then I lowered the fan temps and it is never over 185 ant is 165-185.
Best $40 hp gainer there is!

So are you saying to get the Cartek module and not mess with the fan setting in the tune?

Yes, or at least not mess with the fan setting section of the tuning parameters, or you can do both.

Unless you've had you car tuned with EFI Live...my fan starts about 175 degrees (not at 100%).

I've got an LS2 with an F1 ProCharger, 160 stat and an oversized radiator; fans come on at 178, but the temp guage stays at 185 during normal driving. I live in Cali where there's really one season. Since you're in Il. you might want wait till the weather warms a little.
If you set your fans to come on like mine with a 160 stat in cold weather, you may run at a 170 temp which is too low & will deteriorate your engine.

cartek module 181 on the nose 100% and car runs 185 on a 95 degree day

I only drive the car until Nov usually. Once it gets in the 40's it goes on the lift until March-April. With that aside what do you think a happy middle ground would be using the module. I do have an HP tune with the Procharger. My fan came on and off alot this summer and sometimes the A/C stopped working when I was stopped in traffic or stop and go. Are there settings on the module for the car? Do you set the tune to turn the fan on at a certian temp or does the module do it?

Thanks in advance

the module comes on at 181 no settings that is perfect. if your air stopped take to dealer. i think its happened on a few others it was to much pressure. they had to bleed of a pound or two
