Default Emissions Code with Hi-flows??

How many people got a Check engine light after installing Headers and hi-Flow cats. I knew the removal of Cats would cause one, but I had no trouble with my other 05 C6, but on this 07, immediate Emissions Code. Reset battery and came back again.

07 with kooks and high flow cats. Check engine ligt 420/430. I beat it with sensor extendors. Now, almost 1,000 miles later no check engine!

Kooks LT headers (jet-hotted), high-flow cats, x-pipe, b&b bullets, no tune, and no codes. headers have been on for over 2k miles without any issues.

however, it does seem to be 'common' to get codes after header install, or at least we hear about it more than not.

Melrose headers, hi flow cats, X pipe. No codes in over 5,000 miles.

07, Melrose headers, hi flo cats, xpipe. Threw a code twice. But, then again, I'm just waiting for a tune anyways in a week so I don't really care.

Most (all?) of the so-called high flow cats are 2-way rather than 3-way cats, and in general aren't very good cats. OEM 3-way cats have sufficient flow, so it is better to use them where feasible. Mechanical mounting considerations may require you to use OEM cats from another model of car or light truck rather than the ones that came on your car.

Also, relocating the cats further from the engine impairs their ability to light off quickly, which is tested for at start up in modern emission control systems. This second problem can be addressed by coating the long tube headers so they retain more heat in the gases back to the cats.

Coating the headers has another benefit. The speed of sound, and hence the speed of pressure wave flow, in a pipe is directly proportional to the temperature of the gas flowing in the pipe. Retaining more heat in the gas will thus increase flow, potentially giving you more performance. Coating also decreases underhood temperatures, with obvious performance benefits.
