Default Got my drag wheel setup

I was fishing around for some wheels to use for the track. I decided on a set of C5 Z06 front wheels. I picked them up today from Bob of House of Wheels. Great service and he's local to us Florida guys. He was about 15min from my work so it worked out great

They are brand new C5 Z06 fronts and original Z06 wheels as well, not replicas. This size is 17x9.5" and they have the GM stamp and say speedline on the back of the spokes of the wheels. They weighed in at a feathery 18.5lbs. I weighed them 3 times and came up with 18.5,18.6,18.5. I go to pick up my tires tomorrow morning which is going to be the M/T 275/40/17 ET Street/Drag radial. Those check in at 28lbs so I should have a race setup at just under 47lbs. I'm going to weight my street wheels/tires in the morning. I run 305/30/19's on the street mounted on Ace slick wheels. I figure it should be good for a savings of 10-15lbs.

Ok, just got done doing some weighing some more stuff this morning. Here is what I got:

Stock wheel (F-18x8.5)-21.6lbs
Stock wheel (R-19x10) -23.4lbs

Stock tire (F-245/40/18supercar 50% tread)-26.2lbs
" " from Goodyear's website new -28.0lbs
Stock tire (R-285/35/19supercar 15% tread)-30.2lbs
" " from Goodyear's website new -33.0lbs

Combined weight of stock wheels with new tires and no tpm sensors:
F-49.6lbs
R-56.4lbs

Combined weight of C5Z06-front w/new M/T ET drag:
46.5lbs-net saving in approx 9.9lbs per side.

Here is an intresting one:
My Ace slick rear 19x11 w/Bridgestone Re050A 305/30/19(98Y) and tires press sensors:
62.4lbs

these are the same wheels I dyno on as well. I'm sure the stock weight including the sensors is closer to ~57lbs so 5lbs heavier than stock isn't too bad.

Driving on the drags should prove to be a little quicker as the net difference between my aftermarket Ace slick 19" wheel and the C5Z06-Front speedlines is a whopping 15.9lbs per side!

Anyway, some more good info for ya

Dougie

Thanks for the info Doug - I can tell you my back feels the difference when I switch from my Runflats to my drag radials! I didn't realize it was so much but it is dramatic.

The M/T 17" drag radials are also quite a bit shorter than your runflats - giving you a bit more gear. I find my speedometer is 3 mph fast when I'm running them (being paced by my buddy in his stock Z06). Gives you just a little kick in the quarter mile.

Not that you'll need it at your power level.
