Default Headers: O2 Sensor Questions

Hello all,
I am somewhat confused about the rear O2 sensors, if you have Cats, do you need to run the rear o2 sensors? If you do, or don't will the car pass emissions?

All of you with headers with high flow cats, how are you set up (using or not using the rear o2 sensors)?

Also, what size bolt are you using to plug the hole for the o2 sensor if you are not using them?

Thank you for your help, I'm confused.

Are you going to run the cats or not?

I'm running the LG longtubes with cats and recently removed the rear o2 sesors due to the couplers getting damaged by the heat of the cats. To avoid the computer throwing codes, you'll need to delete all the error codes or take it to a tuner. If you go by the letter of the law, the car won't pass visual inspection with longtubes or if the cats have been replaced unless it's because of cat failure. Most places, though, are realistic and will pass as long as no codes are thrown and you have cats of some form on the car. Other states do the snifer test, and unless there's some issues with the car, it should pass that as well with cats . If you run across a die-hard inspector, they can fail you for about a billion things other than no o2s , esp if have done any mods. Luckily, most are understanding and car fans too. Good luck.

I'm going to be running LG long tubes soon as well with cats. I just got the Predator Diablo tune installed on my car and this tune automatically deletes your rear O2 sensors. This saves a lot of trouble since you don't have to run the sensors after the header install. No codes, no worries.

some members that didn't get a tune are not getting any codes by leaving the rear o2's plugs in when running with high flow cats. if you want to plug them, they are 18mm holes, you will have a tough time find a bolt that size in any hardware store, best bet is muffler shop.

I want to say thats an 18mm bolt, used to plug the rear 02 bungs. but I'm not sure. Give LG Motorsports a call, they can tell you.

Never mind, cbrf4i1 already answered that its an 18mm bolt.

And he is right, this bolt is tough to find at a hardware store or even some autoparts stores.
