I currently have kooks lt's, cats, x-pipe, moderate cam, FAST and LPE intakes, 4.10 gears, and a tune. I love the way the car runs and sounds. I am thinking about going ahead with heads pretty soon but have no idea what to go with. I would appreciate any input on what would be best for the mods I have listed. Thanks in advance.
For your mods I would go with not only heads, but also a cam and a decent clutch.
As far as heads go there are many options available: AFR, TFS, we also offer in house porting on the stock heads, and some other manufacturers as well.
We usually just recommend our heads, because it saves the client money and we have excellent results even when compared to the aftermarket heads. We have made over 500 rwhp with stock heads. We have also run the number with them backing up the dyno HP claims (10.5 @ 130+). This wasn't a one off thing either, we've done it for many of our customers.
If you having any questions just PM me or give us a call.
I'd also like to get a better idea of what you'll be using the car for.
I've read the article before and I still like the AFR heads better. A few things to consider when reading this article is the Trickflow heads were "worked/ringers" vs out of the box AFRs. In addition, the other heads were running a smaller chamber, so the compression in the test wasn't optimized for each set of heads. If the 205s were milled down from the 66 cc chamber to match the trickflow chamber size, they would have posted better numbers than the "ringer" trickflows.
I appreciate all the responses. It looks like I've got alot to learn as I've never done much reading up on heads. I still wish I would have done them when I had the cam installed but I am also one who enjoys the journey too.
