Default POP! when opening driver door

I just wanted to report this for the record - it's been a while.

This happened last summer on a hot day. After being parked outside for a while in the sun (Victory Red 2006 C6) I heard a distinct POP sound when I opened the driver's door. I discovered that the front fender panel was hitting the door panel when the door was opened causing the pop sound. Apparently the panels had expaneded just enough to touch when opened.

I immediately took it to the dealer and they were able to realign the panels (in two trips).

Left un-fixed I'm sure this would have at the least destroyed the paint at the contact point.

mine does it on the passenger side. it's my understanding that there are a couple of bolts on the bottom side that can be loosened, the panel adjusted then, the bolts retightened. now i just need to get out there and try it.

This happened on my 2003 C5 Z06. The dealer re-aligned the fender in 5 minutes and it was fixed. The SMC panels are notorious for movement with thermal excursions and is the prime reason Saturn got away from using on some of thier car lines replacing them on later models with traditional stamped steel.

Mine did this from the day I bought the car. I took it to the dealer 3 times for them to fix it and they never could. I finally decided to tighten the 5- T15 Torx screws along the top of the inner fender while holding the fender in a position that it does not hit. 2 minutes of tightening and I have never had a problem since!!! You gotta love the dealers!

Sounds like the dealer didn't try very hard, if at all.

Yeah I dont think the dealer did a damn thing, even though they claim that their body shop looked at it!
