I have kept my car in the garage for the past 4 months, starting it once a month or so no problem, and I even took it out for a short ride down the road last week.
Today I put the insurance back on, check the oil, and go to start her up and just get a loud CLICK... WTF?! The doors work, lights, radio, everything! She just clicks and wont start up!!!???
If I let her run/drive her for let's say, the better part of an hour, you think the battery will charge...? This is my first issue in the C6 with my battery...
After you get the immediate issue resolved, buy yourself a batter tender. It's a better way to maintain your battery than starting it up and letting it idle.
I pused the car out of my garage and jumped it with my Mazda... I then drove it for about an hour and went to work (around 4 hours ago). I\'m gonna go and see if she turns over in a little while... wish me luck.
I went to Italy for 2 weeks last fall.....the dealer flat out told me to get a charger or the battery would definitely be dead by the time I got back. I didn't get the charger for that trip...but had my son start it up every other day and that kept all good. Will definitely get the charger for next trip!!
A friend had his go dead while cleaning the car. dealer said battery was ok and did a computer update for dbs issues. His is a AT. I thought that was only for 6 speeds ,but apparently not. Jerry
In my view, the SHORT ride last week is the real culprit. No long rides in 4 months, then this short ride! Not sure any battery could tolerate that situation.
Best of Luck.
The car is fine now. As I said, I drove it for almost an hour after the jump start. After work it started up fine and I have driven it all day today, starting it 10 times just fine. Voltage is between 13.8-14.0... all is good.
I'll be getting a battery tender for long term storage ASAP...
I had three occurrences of the dreaded DBS in my 05 MN6 in the Feb/Mar 2006 timeframe. The first two times I jumped it and the battery seemed to take a charge but the third time was the worst. I couldn't even jump it. I had my local dealer pick up the car. I informed them of the BCM flashed with no issues since! I put the Vette up for the winter in mid November 2006 and didn't even attempt to pull the cover off and open the door until mid February this year and when I did, it started without a hitch. . . . . . knock on wood.
Living in NYC has been a nightmare with this car. the garage attendants never shift to reverse because they dont speak english. I constantly have a dead battery. I hate it. They fixed this stupid design flaw for 06 right?
Does anyone who lives outside manhattan (or anywhere) want to swap for my 05 black/black convertible with 5k miles.
bb headers, exhaust prt system. bb electronic control module. Callaway short shift. 3M clear bra. K40 Calibre built in radar with laser jammer.
and a 20 thousand dollar a/v system including Alpine Amps, Alpine subs, Alpine DVD.. Ipod video integration. The Car is awesome but i cant take the dead battery and no one shifts to reverse even though I ask politely 5 times and tip them well.
