There are additional costs to consider. Such as a fuel system that doesn't come with the kit, a speed density tune(takes much longer to tune), also the kit is very labor intensive to install.
Do you all think that one reason F.I. systems may by priced higher on our vettes compared to the GTO is due to the lack of room in the vette's engine bay??? My GTO had a whole lot more room to work with... Perhaps more R&D/engineering to get all the components in the vette??? Just a thought...
APS is a great kit with a fitting price. The true corvette tax is whne you have a header company make a F-body header for 300 and the vette version is 1400. It more evidnt when a set of mufflers is 300 for a f-body and its 1400 from the same manufacturer for the vette.
Here's one for you. I broke a speed sensor (transmitter for the speedometer) located on the transmission on my C4. It cost considerably more at the Chevy dealer than at a Pontiac dealer. I was lucky that I had a friend at the Chevy dealer that told me some Pontiac cars used the same sensor. The tax exists everywhere even at the dealer!
