Default Rear Axle Noise

OK mea culpa. I bought my toy last year and stopped visiting this website. I started having noise in the rear and took it in this week and left it there for a couple of days while I was out of town. They explained to me the problem, and the service bullletin. They told me they added Royal Purple and if that doesn't work I guess they replace the clutch packs. Just so happens the meeting I was at had some folks peddling Royal Puple so I asked them about it. They said the additive GM supplies is not durable and that is why Royal Purple works. They also recommended that I put Royal Purple in the engine because GM is spec'ing out additives in their recommend oil for some reason and the Royal Purple guys said the engines will suffer. They also referenced an article in Corvette Enthusiast magazine last year that compared Mobil One to Royal Purple where they demonstrated increased HP and Mileage with Royal Purple.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks

I am getting ready to make the change myself and was going to use Mobil 1 with the GM modifier, but now I am wondering if I should use Royal Purple. Which dealer gave you this advice? Anyone else hear anything about this?

Gerry Lane put in the Royal Purple addive but the recommendation to use Royal Purple in the engine was by Royal Purple folks. I still wold like to hear opinions from the others on engine oil.

I have not had much luck with the GM synthetic lubricant and additive. I did three (3) changes myself for the clutch noise. Finally, I had the dealer change the clutch packs. The tech used the wrong GM lubricant so I took the opportunity to drain it out and switched to the correct Royal Purple lub (Royal Purple Max-Gear Synthetic, 75w-90 with Synslide which already contains the friction modifiers/additive).

That was at 5,000 miles. I know have just over 20,000 miles and so far so good. I do not know if it was the new clutches that fixed the problem or the Royal Purple, or both. Just happy it is fixed.
