Does anyone have any info on a lower gear ratio for the A6. Would like to change the 2.56 to something around 3.00. I cannot find any parts distributor or speed shop that has anything.

DTE in Ft. Wayne , Indiana has been installing the 3.15 differential for about 2 months now . I believe they are ready to ship the unit to select shops for installation also , but not sure on the details . I would suggest that you call Jeny or Phil Rickard at DTE for the correct information . 260-407-5455 . It is an awesome upgrade for pure driving fun !!! Good luck ! Larry R. Quinn
Thanks Mike, I just tried their website and dte dynotech comes up with nothing and dynotech comes up with some printing house. Do you know what their website address is?

Gears are just like everything else we do to a Vette: Performance.
The 2.56 gears are strictly for CAFE requirements. The A6 cars do get great mileage! Take that Prius owners! V8 400 HP ~30 Hiway if you can keep your foot out of it. LOL
debmwb has it , the gear change is the quickest lowest cost performance improvement option (although it does not come that cheap!). I probably won't have a need to go 180, however I would like to get to 100 much quicker (every once in awhile). Gas mileage is of no concern, I bought the Corvette to satisfy my performance craving. The car only gets driven on sunny days and spends the winter in a warm garage.
changing to 3.15 gear ratio is the cheapest performance mod you can make to our A6 Vettes.
Understand but...with the 2.56's and the ratio of the A6 you already have 3.80's in there off the line. I know why you'd change...just wondered if the math had been done. I ripped the 2.73's out of my '04 A4 and put in 3.42's, but with the way the tranny was geared it needed it badly!

And actually it's equivalent to an A4 with a 3.92 rearend.
