Default Vararam Ingestion Question

Hello everybody!
I just installed the Vararam CAI system on my C6. In doing so I removed the shroud & was amazed at the number of dead critters that were wedged at the top where it comes in close proximity to the condenser. I carefully vacuumed the bugs off the condenser before reinstalling the cut shroud. Well this got me thinking. I know there has been concern about water ingestion, but I'm not concerned as I do not plan on driving into the gulf. But I do wonder about bugs/debris causing possible overheating problems. I live in Florida & for those who know, lovebug season is upon us. It can get pretty bad at times. Obviously the air filter will not allow bugs/debris to be ingested into the engine but I can see the filter easily getting clogged. I also wonder about the occasional hotdog wrapper getting sucked up. I keep my coolant temps displayed on the DIC, so I can readily see if temps are rising uncharacteristically.
Ok with all that said has anyone put a screen on the front of the intake? It seems it would be easier to remove/clean than removing the air filter. I imagine a screen would restrict airflow but to what extent & to what sacrifice to performance do not know.
Thanks in advance for all your input.
Cheers,
Glenn

I was going to put a screen on the opening, but I only thought of this after installing. No fuuking way I'm taking it apart just to put a screen on.

Same here. I think if you just clean out the filter every few months you should be fine.

Does your Snake Charmer have the flow straightening vanes? I just took delivery of one that doesn't.

I would think that somebody out there would come up with an elastic screen that could be fitted over the open end and when it gets dirty you take it off and wash it. Kinda like a snake charmer condom full of holes.
No pun intended, but, I thought it sounds like a good idea.

It did not have the vanes. I was not aware that the VSC had vanes. Is this new? I bought mine from L.A.P.D. during the big sale they were just having.
