Default honker and dirty engine bay

anyone notice more dirt in the engine bay after a Honker install. Am i missing a piece? I can see the asphalt next to the radiator on the drivers side--is there a piece that should be there--should it be like that? Or is there a wbsite that has exploded pic of the radiator shroud area for me to check I would appreciate the link.

Thanks

I can also see pavement with mine, so I don't think you have any missing pieces.

BTW, thanks with regard to my issue. I responded to your PM but your box is full.

I'm thinking about getting a Honker. So does the frame that attaches to the radiator shroud not fit tightly or what.

I heard I'm not supposed to post in a thread for a product which I don't own, but here goes anyway.

Not sure if these pictures will help you see what you're looking for.

The pics are in post #2

fits perfectly and seals well, no issues with mine, c5's and c6's are prone to dirty engine bays, this is not attributable to the honker from my experience though, IMHO good quality product and one of the best features is ease of taking the filter out for maintenance.

My engine bay is dirty too and I can see the ground around the shroud also. I thought the Honker was the cause of all the dirt too. But I guess maybe not.

Now that I have read this, I should think about cleaning the filter. Is it hard to get out of the frame since the frame is rivited to the shroud?

Its really easy to get this filter out, the frame stays put on the shroud. The filter only sits in the riveted frame and is sandwiched in place by the Airhorn.

Every Corvette, and especially any with real CAI installed, should screen off the area that feeds the radiator. I checked mine after our 3750 mile drive home from the Museum and found a lot of debris there. C5s and now C6s are famous for being vacuum cleaners. Rig up a screen ( mine is black fiberglass screening from ACE) and enjoy a cleaner intake and rad.

Any idea how much the screen impedes airflow to the CAI and/or the radiator/condenser?

I tried the screen on the underside and noticed my coolant temp increase by 4-6 degrees so I took it out. The front grill mesh screen also increased coolant temp but very slightly ~2 deg so I left it on plus it does protect well.

See BlueSpeeds post. I have not seen increased temps; can't make much of a difference. Take a piece of screen and blow through it... doesn't seem to stop much flow.
