Default Head/Cam Package

Here are my current mods:

Vararam CAI
Kooks 1 3/4 LT headers
High Flow Cats
Corsa Sport Exhaust

What additional horsepower can be gained by the installation of a cam only option versus a head/cam option.

The other question I am wondering about is whether or not the vette must be tuned after either one of these installs?

Thanks everyone,

With cam only, you should be at least around 400rwhp depending on the cam.
Head/cam would get you closer to at least 450rwhp I think.
You definitely have to tune the car.

Much closer/convenient to go to LG or 21st Century Muscle cars in DFW.

Thank you all for the promptness and expertise offered. It helps. We have a local tuner here in Lubbock, but to my understanding they do not have very many vette tunes under their belt. Experience, Experience!!!!

Will probably have to drive to Dallas/Ft. Worth for tune.

thanks

Thanks everyone,
Cam only = 425-450 RWHP
Cam & Heads = 450-500 RWHP

The above is generalized and, of course, depends on how aggressive (or not) the cam profile is. Plus, you must have a good tune.

Just send the car over to 21MC for all the work and go for the LPE stage 3 heads. 21MC routinely turns out H/C C6's with 460+ RWHP. Their work is second to none.

Alternative setup (mine):

2005 C6 (Z51)
Kooks 1 3/4" Headers w/High-flow cats
Stock Catback
Vortex Rammer
Ported FAST90
Ported TB
Comp ProMagnum 1.85 shaft roller rockers, Patriot dual gold springs w/Ti retainers, Comp PM pushrods.
4.10s

402rwhp 398rwtq And that was on gears with zero break-in miles. My objective was to provide a solid foundation for more power later.

The problem with these "should I choose this or that" is that all the stuff works together. If you try to save $$$ by going cam only, you wind up with an agressive cam and you leave power on the table because your DCR is down, and you have poor drivability. Whereas if you combine mild cam and even budget heads like the Patriots, you get a better overall result. Also it is best to go with proven setups like Tony Mamo's AFR205 + 224/228 cam + ported FAST90.
