Vibration noise from shifter

Hi everyone

I have a 2006 z51 mn6. Under moderate or heavy acceleration I get a vibration noise coming from the stick shifter.

Its quite annoying. Anyone else have the same problem?

Is there a fix for this problem?

Dealer says its normal??

I have a B&M and it does it sometimes also.

A common problem especially in the cold. GM sent me an email about a month ago stating to look out for a fix to be released soon. Suggested Apr/May, so keep on your dealer and watch this forum.

I've got the same problem. I've told the dealer several times and they can never hear it. Mine is worse when it's cold and under hard acceleration. Becareful about telling the dealer to see for themselves; they wrecked my car the last time!!!

stick vibrations

My 06 Z06 has the same problem now,but when I first got the car the noise was hardley noticeable. GM always says that any noise is normal, or is the first time you have ever confronted a service writer with a problem?

I had that issue. My local Chevy dealer replaced the shifter assembly under warranty. The Corvette tech said that GM told them to tell customers it was "normal" - but he also said that if it was a Corvette engineer's personal car he'd bet that they would have it fixed!

I'm glad that I have a good service center nearby, and the shifter has been quiet since they replaced it several months ago.

thank-you all for your thoughts. I will keep an eye for the fix.

Djfullshred can you tell me what part number they used. Maybe it is different from the current one??

If it worked for you it should be good for me.

I would really appreciate the part number so perhaps I can convince my dealer to use it.

This is a known issue on Z06s, and mine does it a bit after I changed to a Z06 shifter, but never did it with the stock shifter.

The non-Z06 and Z06 shifters are the same, except that the standard one is mounted on rubber bushings and the Z06 unit is not. This makes for a more positive shift, but more rattle too.

I wonder if you may have the Z06 unit instead of the one with the rubber bushings?
