Headers are a great add on. You can keep the stock exhaust and probobly should try it first. If then you want a deeper, louder sound, consider exhaust.
My dealer has installed everything. Having a great relationship with your delaer will likely give you warranty concessions, as they have maintained the car through the mods.
Consider some American Racing headers. No trouble and lots of fun!
I ordered a set of Kook's longtube headers that should be here next week. I can't wait to hear the headers and B&B Bullets together. I'm trying to find a place that will do the install. Doug Rippie Motorsports in Buffalo will do it for $475. I drove out to Boos Performance in Anoka yesterday since it was a nice day for a Corvette ride, they wanted $575 for the install. I'm trying to find someone that will do it cheaper because I will eventually have to have my car tuned.
where's a good place to get american racing headers ?
Well I got mine from Andy at A&A Corvette. He had the best price and answered alot of my questions. Vette Doctors and some other vendors sell them as well. Just Google them and you will find a few dealers.
I think the Lg's and Kooks are also good. Just go with your best price on any of the three. You won't lose that way.
We have installed just about every setup out there. They all have pros and cons, and pretty much the same price. Right now we have a combined 4700 horsepower in the shop running 3 different types of header. I just thought more about that and it's pretty cool.
American Racing (new Z06)
Kooks 1-7/8 stepped to 2 inch (supercharged 440 CID)
LGM Street and pros (C5 stock, C6 and supercharged 412 CID)
TPIS (Fast 382 C5)
I forgot who makes the header for this truck (6.2 07 GMC superchargered)
Doug's 70's side pipes still are the loudest!
We are located just west of the cities in Buffalo, MN. About 30 miles from downtown.
I've got mine in at DRM right now getting some LG's with stock mufflers.
I'll let you know what I think next week.
If possible I'd like to hear your car, maybe we can meet up somewhere in the metro when DRM's done. I'm going stock mufflers also, but I think I'm going to want it louder.
MNCHOPPER- Doug and Randy @ DRM know their stuff! Give em' a call for some sound advice. If you plan on headers and exhaust, I would do it all at once. Have you done anything else to your car? DRM should have a Honker on the shelf, if they do get it.
what are some things I should know before considering the installation of headers on my 2007c63ltz51?
should I do the exhaust at the same time?
are these items things that are installed by the dealer or a performance shop?
has anybody in the minneapolis area done these things to their cars and who have people been happy with?
thanks for the replies!
If you are looking for "The Best" in the twins cities, call Max and/or Blake at Olsen Corvette in St. Bonifacious (just east of Waconia on Hwy 7) 952-446-1497 www.olsencorvette.com. They just did my 06 C6 A6 Z51 3LT with:
- Kooks 1 7/8" headers and High-flow cats (stock exhaust)
- Jethot Extreme Sterling ceramic coated
- Elite Engineering Thermal Abs (tunnel plate)
- LPE intake and pre-cut shroud
- Braided SS brake lines (I do HPDE)
- Racing brake fluid
- Full Dyno tune including TM adjustments
And .. they do their own work.
Never go for a cheap install because that is exactly what you will get. Also, if you are putting headers on, you must get a tune or you will have codes and performance issues (IMHO).

My car is back from Olsen Corvette (see them under Tuners on the left).
Coated Koooks, CATs and LPE intake - add the Tune by Max "the master" and you have 378 HP and 382 torque Thanks guys.
MN_VETTEz I am running with the BMW club on Sat at DCTC. PM me if you want to come see/hear/drive the car.
To get a deep, throaty, harley kind of sound would i be better off going with B&B exhaust or Corsa sports? I think I have decided not to go with headers because I am not going to keep this car more than a year.

Go with B&B if you want a loud deep throaty muscle car sound, the Corsa Sports have more of a high pitched European sound. If you go to any car shows this summer you can hear my B&B Bullets if you want.

For the slight gain in HP you risk voiding your warranty. Check with the service manager where you bought your car and see if he will put in writing the line of BS he gives you. Take your money and spend it on a set of kickazz rims and Corsa sports.

Who did you have install them and what was the cost if I can be nosey?

I would have to disagree with this. I have headers on my car along with a ported intake, LPE CAI and a tune. The car makes 400 rwhp, that is up from about 350 stock so it is not a slight gain. I have had it to the dealer a couple of times for warranty work including replacing the clutch packs it the rear. The only comment he made was those are the nicest headers I have seen. FYI they are American racing headers. I did the install myself it took a few hours and an extra set of hands is nice to have. You should definitely get it tuned. Also try the stock mufflers for a while, the headers sound pretty good with them and no drone! If you want noise, go ride that chopper and don't waste your money on after market cat back systems that add littel to no horse power!
