p.s. I have a haunting feeling that this thread might've been started before. Sorry if this question is a repost, but "search" isn't going to be much help here. Thanks.
Well, you could run what the guy is running. I'm pretty sure that set-up is without cats. I have a very similar set-up, but with hi-flo cats and it is a little more tame.

Yes, a cam will really alter the exhaust sounds. Check out the video in my sig, I'm running a D1SC supercharger with heads, cam, dynatech headers and corsa sports.
One day my wife was following me. She calls me on my cell and tells me that she thought the vette sounded kind of wimpy and that we should do something to make it a little louder. (Gotta love a woman like her..)
I took my car to Finish Line Performance in Naperviller, Il. The installed Dynatech long tube headersw/ cats & x-pipe...Haltech Stinger intake and dyno tune. 374 rwhp 373 trq
Best thing about this is the sound. It sounds awesome. Exactaly what I was looking for. I couldnt be happier. If anyone is around the Chicagoland area they should look FLP up. Mitch is the sale manager and these guys know their stuff. I think when i save up my pennies im gonna do a 4.10 rear end and may even have do a cam or more....but for right now the car is just wanted I wanted.

Video intro says "cam, Stainless Works LT headers, and Corsa catbacks (so probably no cats, as you suspect)."
Agree, install what this guy has if you want that sound (but I'm thinking that cam and no catalytics will give you a headache after a while! Just my personal opinion. )

i had a c5 z06 that sounded exactly like that i had the kooks lts and the titanium corsa and not really sure what cam spec were because to was in the car when i bought it but it didnt have cats and it sounded great around town and short trips but i made the mistake and took it on a long trip one time and it got old after a few hours but when i get my next one i will probably go for that sound again but i will not take it on any long trips again
I have long tube headers, high flow cats, x-pipe, and a Borla touring exhast. Under normal circumstances the car is very moderate but it comes alive and sounds like a beast under full throttle. Here is a video of my car on the drag strip, it makes 462 RWHP and ran 11.49 @ 124 mph in the video. Good luck with your decision! Kevin
The removal of emissions control systems / parts (catalytic converters in this case) is decidedly illegal.
The strictest interpretation of the law implies that you are not allowed to modify the emissions control systems on your vehicle unless they are malfunctioning.
The likelihood that you would get in trouble for replacing the standard cats with high-flow versions is pretty slim, especially if your vehicle still passes the emissions inspection, but it is still within the reach of the law to fine you and order you to replace the OEM parts.
Edit: I do suppose that if there are CARB approved parts, that may circumvent that part of the law, but I don't really know on that -- I just remember looking into this a couple years ago when I was 'enhancing' the performance of my DuraMax powered truck.

One would think that you could get away with high flow cats as long as it passes the emissions test. If not I guess living in Calli isn't all it's cracked up to be! GO TAR HEELS!
