Do they have a coating over the stainless braids like the Stoptechs do? Are they DOT and TUV approved?
Quoted from stoptechs website....
"StopTech brake lines consist of a Teflon® inner line that is covered with a layer of stainless steel woven braid. The Teflon tube is very resistant to expansion under pressure and will not degrade from exposure to brake fluid. The stainless steel braid provides support for the Teflon and the weave is extremely durable against incidental impact and abrasion. StopTech brake lines feature a Clear Abrasion Resistant Cover for maximum protection against chaffing"
The cover also protects against the road grit that typically gets inside braided lines and degrades them.
Splitting hairs? SS Lines are all about the same. They are all pretty cheap anyway, compared to a GT brake set, so get any name brand.
HOWEVER when you FIRST flush, DON'T do it yourself! Have the dealer open the ABS unit up with their Tech-2 thingy to be sure you replace ALL the fluid with your high temp stuff. Then you can bleed yourself.
Since I will be taking the calipers off to have them powder coated, this seems like the perfect time to replace the stock brake lines with SS.
While at the StopTech website, I see that they offer Motul 5.1 Brake Fluid: "synthetic fluid specially designed for use with ABS". Would it be advisable to flush the "OLD" brake fluid and replace it with this? Or, is the 6-month old GM brake fluid fine?
And, Is there any "trick" to properly flushing the C6's brake fluid? A special machine? Also, if I didn't spill any, how much fluid would it require? Comes in 500ml bottles.
