Finished my h/c last night. Not to bad, first time ever taking apart a motor.Thought I learn on a Corvette. It took about 12 hours intotal over the last week. Got it all back together. I marked on all the bolt and labal everything, but I was left with one seal. I never saw this seal before last night. Its blue, thick and about the size of a quarter. hmmmmm
But after start up there is no question what it is. The seal is from the oil pump. I was lacking oil pressure. So back to work! I'm going to take the seal to GM today to make sure that is where it came from.
Sounds like the o-ring that seals the oil pick-up tube to the oil pump. I had a really hard time getting mine in there when I went with the double roller chain since you have to space the oil pump out. I kept pinching it. Finally got it to seat all the way around.
Sounds like the oil seal. Nothing else looks like that. The good news is that you will be fine as long as you put it in. Also, your ported intake and TB should be there in about 7 days or so. It shipped on schedule! So you've got some time to "tinker" Sorry... bad joke..
