Ok so I am going to stop and get some oil for an oil change on my way home. Planning on mobil 1 can someone please tell me which weight and how many quarts I need? Owners manual is at home with the vette. Thanks
Actually, Fram is one of the worst on the market. They are made of cardboard and have the tendancy to collapse. I use Mobile 1 - they are high middle of the road, but easily available.

My local chevy dealer installs 10-30 as the temp's in Texas are higher than most of the country, so I put in the 10-30. Because of the little thicker oil my oil life went to 71 percent upon start up and now after 1000 miles reads 58 percent left.
I will be going back to 5-30 next week.
Total price out the door at Advance auto parts with filter was $25.02 and it takes me about 20 min. total time.

5.5 qts Mobil1 5w30 silver cap (regular Mobil1 not the extended performance)
6 qts if it has the Z51 perf package
What's the difference between the reg. Mobile 1 (silver) and the extended Mobile 1 (gold)? I saw that at Walmart and Pep Boys today and didn't know which to get. They also had a Mobile 1 filter in the correct size.
