I didn`t disconect the battery and also cut the shroud on the car,don`t bother taking it off,just take your time and put something behind the shroud when cutting(BE CAREFULL!),it will save you alot of time on the install
Just helped C64ME install a vararam. The cut out for the shroud does not seem right at all. We did it right, it matched the pictures. I think I could do better with a custom cut.
you have to cut all the way to the metal in the front. I lined up the template and it thought it was right, but the thing was no where close to fitting. I had to call tech support to find out I didn't put the template down far enough.
I also used some tin snips to cut down at the bottom is went so much faster than with the knife. I used a hook blade in the utility knife rather than the straight blade. That worked good too.
