Second Broken Return Spring...
How many return springs do we have on the pedal set of an '05 C6 MN6?
Back in early March '07 I found a broken spring on the floor under the clutch/brake pedals.
The consensus of those I showed it to was that it was the clutch return spring and no big deal.
So I wrapped it in some tissue and put it in the rear storage comparment as a souvenir. There haven't been any issues with pedal operation.
Then this weekend, a second spring broke. Everything continues to operate normally.
Thoughts?

Could it be the rest of the first spring?

I never thought of that...I will take the second piece and compare it to the first to see if the two pieces match up...

Its two coils with a small space between, it most likely broke at one of the sharp bends in the middle piece so you should have two things that look very similar.

Two coils. One is the return spring. The other is there to make it easier to hold the clutch down once you've pressed it about halfway in. It's one of the reasons some people have difficulty being smooth with the clutch, and some have removed the springs to alleviate that issue.

broken spring
Broke mine this week end on my 05. Dealer just ordered me another one. Clutch doesn't feel much different without it.

It's actually a clutch assistance spring. Leave it out and your left leg will eventually be bigger than your right one.

Update...
Finally got the chance to compare broken spring piece #1 to broken spring piece #2 and they are two parts that should be one.
Thanks all for the suggestions...not sure if I will get it replaced or not...if the clutch works without it, why screw with it...
